My sweet husband Terry passed away Monday, March 4, 2019. He was the love of my life and my best friend.

Terry was someone to admire. He was one of the few genuinely kind people in the world. He treated everyone with respect, valued their words, and made sure to always make them feel comfortable in his presence. He was the quiet guy in a room full of people but if you ever talked with him, you knew immediately what a sweet man he was. He always made you feel at ease and comfortable talking to him. Terry McDermott, age 64, a longtime resident of Woodridge, IL, passed away March 4, 2019, at Edward Hospital in Naperville, Illinois. He was born July 25, 1954 in Chicago to Jim and Joanne McDermott.
Terry grew up on the northwest side of Chicago and enjoyed watching Chicago sports. As a young man he had kidney failure and his brother Joe donated a kidney. Terry lived for 40 years as an organ recipient.
He enjoyed travel and skiing. He was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Downers Grove. His family was an important part of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Diana McDermott, three sons, Michael (Yulia) Block, Jim McDermott and Ryan McDermott, one granddaughter, Jane Block, four brothers, Patrick (Pam) McDermott, Joe (Kathy) McDermott, Kevin McDermott and Dan (Helen) McDermott, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 8, 2019 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church. Interment will follow at in .
