Thelma Athey Schwille of Roanoke, Va., passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, October 20, 2018.
Born on July 27, 1914, in Warren County, Va., she was the daughter of Clarence W. Athey and Bessie Edmonds Athey, and was preceded in death by both of her parents; her husband, Charles E. Schwille; and stepson, Stephen G. Schwille.
Thelma is survived by her cousin, Deanne S. Smith and husband, Albert, of Ocean City, Md.; stepdaughter, Kathryn Schwille and husband, Thomas Lucas, of Charlotte, N.C.; and stepdaughter, Regina M. Schwille of Lansdale, Pa.
She retired from C&P Telephone of Virginia, where she spent many years in their Commercial Department. Thelma was an active member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and longtime member of Greene Memorial United Methodist Church.
A Private Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem, Va., with the Rev. Philip Waltz officiating.
