Theresa Clare Alves

Theresa Alves, a lifelong resident of Patterson, California, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Crows Landing, California, and graduated from Hilmar High School in 1949.

In 1956, Theresa married Louis Alves, and together they shared 47 years of marriage until his passing. She was an active member of the YLI (Young Ladies Institute) and PFSA (Portuguese Fraternal Society of America). Theresa had a passion for gardening and cooking. She was known for her warm hospitality and constant smile. Theresa loved her family, friends, and all those she encountered. Her kindness, generosity, and joyful spirit will be missed by all who knew her.

Theresa Alves is survived by her children, Jim (Deborah) Alves and their children David and Lindsay (Matt), David Alves and his daughter Cole, and Mary Ann (Bill) Hopkins; her siblings, Mary Cardoza, Annie (Tony) Trinta and Francis (William) Schmidt; her many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Louis Alves; parents, Antone and Anna Machado; brothers, Joe, Manuel, and Tony.

A Rosary/Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, October 13, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Patterson.
