Theresa E. Schumann, age 84, was peacefully called back to God surrounded by loved ones on January 6th, 2026 after a fruitful life as a loving sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. Born in Shickshinny, Pennsylvania on February 16th, 1941, she grew up in Levittown, Pennsylvania and attended Delhaas High School where she graduated as a member of the Class of 1959. She spent several years as a self-employed florist where she was able to express her creativity in beautiful arrangements found throughout her community. She married her husband Ed, and moved to Montrose in Susquehanna County where she would spend the majority of her golden years; in which she left a lasting impression on those who experienced her warm heart and gentle spirit, with free advice along the way capped off with bags of chips and Hershey kisses.
“Terrie” lived one day at a time, making the most of living in the moment where she blossomed as the core and matriarch of her household and family. She was the light of the lives of those who knew her; as everyone will always remember that infectious smile as her funny, upbeat, selfless, and warm personality shined. Her style was bright and bold, matching her larger than life persona where simple ideas became grandiose. Throughout her life she prioritized her family first, always. From holidays, birthdays, graduations, vacations, sporting events and celebrating achievements/milestones; she would never miss them for the world. Her joyous passion for the arts, Italian culinary at Christmas, and music from singing Che La Luna, Feliz Navidad to dancing on the American Bandstand in Philadelphia and of course, her iconic favorite, the Tarantella at a moment’s notice. Her compassion for her four legged friends, Simone, Bandit, Ruby, and Coal was unconditional and knew no bounds. She loved traveling, from St. Croix to the Outer Banks whether it was in the air, in a boat on the lake, or a cruise sailing the seas; anything that could end with her feet in the sand and a sunset on the horizon was where she felt truly at peace.
She was predeceased by her husband of 30 years, Edward T. “Bud” Schumann, mother Mary (Cheppa) Mucci Kerner, father Eli Mucci, stepfather Russell Kerner, and brother Eli Dante Mucci.
She is survived by her brothers; Robert and James Mucci, devoted daughters and son-in-law, Darci (Schumann) and Emil “Butch” Wirth III, and Diana Schumann along with her seven grandchildren that she took great pride in; Emil “EJ” IV, Eli, Evan, Elexa, and Edward Wirth, Chloe Salton, and Phoebe Lauer who affectionately called her “Mom Mom” and when in doubt were instilled to ask, What Would Mom Mom Do?; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends and guests on Friday, January 9th from 5:00-7:00pm at the Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home in Montrose, Pennsylvania. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 10th at the Holy Name of Mary Church in Montrose, Pennsylvania followed by interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Friendsville, Pennsylvania and a luncheon at the Tall Pines Players Club Golf Course in Friendsville Pennsylvania at 12:00pm. The family would like to thank the incredible staff at Gracious Living Estates that handled Theresa’s end of life care with unmatched love and affection and in lieu of flowers, donations to the nursing home in Theresa’s name would be met with sincere gratitude.
