Therese M. (Lyons) Hawks 81 of La Grange Park, IL formerly of DeKalb passed away Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Bella Terra Elmhurst. She was born October 11, 1943, in DeKalb, IL and was the daughter of Bernard W. and Cecelia (Carton) Lyons.

Therese graduated from DeKalb High School in 1961 and continued her education at St. Xavier University, where she proudly earned her nursing degree. She devoted many years of her life to caring for others as a dedicated nurse in the Chicagoland area, touching countless lives with her compassion and warmth.

Beyond her profession, Therese had a deep love for life’s simple joys. She found delight in traveling, challenging herself with crossword puzzles, and expressing her creativity through various arts and crafts. But more than anything, what truly brought her the greatest joy was spending time with her family and the many dear friends who were blessed to know her and love her.

Survivors include; two children; Julie (Reggie Thigpen) Hawks of Bolingbrook, IL and Mark Hawks of Des Plaines, IL. Grandchildren; Amanda Manning, Kendra Thigpen, Adriana Thigpen and RJ Thigpen. Great grandchildren; Briana Manning, Elijah Manning, Layla Hernandez-Bullock and Meeya Hernandez-Bullock. Two cousins; Helen Traglia and Mary Comeford. She was preceded in death by her parents. 

Memorial mass will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 10:30am at St. Mary Catholic Church in DeKalb with Father Dean Russell officiating, visitation will be held from 10:00am until the time of service at the church. Burial will be immediately following the mass at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in DeKalb. Memorials can be made to the family to be established at a later date.
