When I first met Mr. Cain, he asked if I knew the procedure to pull peanuts by hand. I did answer correctly. He drove a red Honda which was the first Honda car I had seen. I also wondered if it was chain drive. I will miss a friend & have the memories forever.

Thomas's Obituary

Thomas Lewis Cain, Sr., age 88, a resident of Troy, AL died Saturday, October 20, 2018 at his home. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at 11:00 am in Memory Hill Cemetery in Dothan with the Reverend Steve Rascoe and the Reverend Danny Arnold officiating.

 

Visitation will be held Monday, October 22, 2018 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy.

 

Mr. Cain was a longtime member of Park Memorial United Methodist Church where he served as Sunday school teacher for adults and teens. He also served the chairman of Pastor-Parish Relations. Mr. Cain served on the Alabama Retired State Employees Association Board of Directors. He was a member of the Alabama Silvered Haired Legislature and a member of the Alabama Senior Citizens Hall of Fame.

 

Mr. Cain is survived by his children, Cheryl Anthony (Joe), Lynn Melton (Tom), Lewis Cain (Beth); grandchildren, MJ Johnston (Adam), Emily Melton, Emmie and Brianna Anthony, Denise, Melissa, Laura and Brandon Cain; step-mother, Ruth Cain; sisters, Betty Prentice, Carolyn Bass (Donald), Martha Leger (Bill); brother, Bill Marshall (Nina); cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

 

The family would like to express their gratitude to his caregivers, Mildred Townsend, Lola Foster, Dyan Collins, Louise Siler, Jean Hayner and the staff of Alacare Hospice.

 

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Park Memorial United Methodist Church or your favorite charity.
