Thomas Henry “Tom” Conzelmann, 87, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026, in Saginaw, Michigan. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and community leader, Tom’s life was marked by faith, service, and a deep love for his family and hometown.
Born on November 26, 1938, in Frankenmuth, Michigan, Tom was the son of Alice (nee List) and Helmuth Conzelmann. He grew up in a household that valued education and faith—principles that would guide him throughout his life. He attended St. Lorenz Lutheran School in Frankenmuth and later graduated from Michigan Lutheran Seminary in Saginaw. In 1961, he earned his degree from Central Michigan University.
On August 27, 1960, Tom married Judith (Judie) Struck in Bay City, Michigan. Their union was blessed with 65 years of marriage and three sons: Thomas J., Theodore, and Jeffrey. Together they built a life centered around family values and community involvement.
For most of his professional career, Tom worked as an independent insurance agent with the Emil Rummel Agency. After retiring from the insurance industry, he continued to share his talents with the community through part-time work at the Frankenmuth Chamber of Commerce and Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Tom’s commitment to civic engagement was evident through his active participation in numerous organizations. He contributed to the JC's and Rotary Club and served on local Parks and Recreation initiatives. His leadership extended to cultural celebrations as well—he was a past chairman of the Frankenmuth Bavarian Festival, helping preserve and promote the town’s rich heritage.
A lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Tom served in many leadership roles within the congregation. His dedication to ministry extended beyond local borders when he spent a year in Ukraine mentoring pastors and lay leaders of the Ukrainian Lutheran Church—a mission that reflected both his faith and global perspective.
Tom's many interests brought him much pleasure. As a high school athlete, he excelled in track, basketball, and football. In later years he enjoyed hiking mountain trails, playing golf and Euchre with friends and family, deer hunting in northern Michigan, and traveling extensively—especially to Hawaii, the mountains of Tennessee, and Europe.
He is survived by his beloved wife Judie; son Thomas (Linda); daughter-in-law Janet (wife of son Jeffrey); grandchildren Johnathan, Joel, Matthew, Christopher, David, Alaina, and Claire; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Lyle and David; son Theodore and his wife, Patricia; son Jeffrey; and granddaughter Katelynn. He was also preceded in death by his parents-in-law, the Rev. Gerhard and Charlotte Struck; and his brother-in-law, David Struck.
