Not sure what to say?

I grew up next to the Crawford family in New London. When I was young Tom's dad put up a basketball hoop behind his garage. I used to sneak over and play all the time. Although Tom was a little bit older he welcomed the opportunity to beat me at basketball all the time. Tom was always a nice guy. Come to think about it, so wasn't everybody in his family. I was fortunate to have known him! May God bless him and his family!

Heartfelt sympathy to Patricia and all the family. My Dad died suddenly from his first heart attack, so I know how painful these days are. It will get better. God bless and keep you. ...At RHHS, I was never in his classroom (wow, did his lucky students love him!) but I remember well his hallway cheeriness- "Hi, Mr Crawford!", "Hi Mary"- with big smiles for all. And he also reached out whenever possible for "teachable moments". Fifty years on, I still remember when we discussed the contrast...

My deepest sympathy to Tommy's family. Tommy was in the Class of 1968 and I graduated in 1969. He dated a dear friend of mine and became a friend to all. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time. May all your happy memories be with you always. RIP Tommy

My deepest sympathy to Tom's family. We were classmates at Bulkeley Jr High and graduates of NLHS 1968.

My sincere condolences to Tommy´s wife, family, brothers, sisters and their families. Tommy was my first boyfriend in HS... class of 69, then off to PC. Always such fun attending all his basketball games and hanging out with all our mutual friends. Such a respectful and smart guy. He would stand at my locker and do my algebra for me... which was not my forte. He´s the reason I passed any math subjects! I´m truly so very sorry for your loss. May your wonderful memories keep your hearts...

So many great fun memories with Uncle Tom....sending love and hugs from the midwest.

So very saddened by Tom’s sudden passing, Patti. He left a great legacy, touched countless lives and livened up every room. He will be greatly missed and is irreplaceable. Love , hugs and prayers .

I was Tom´s first college roommate at PC back in Sept `68, immediately connected and related to Tom....but then again, who didn´t ..Tom was the total package, a tough high school basketball competitor in maybe the toughest conference in Ct high school basketball the CDC ( Capital District Conference), New London being part of the CDC they played all the tough inner city Hartford teams and along with NFA pulled off some amazing upset victories which was a big deal, a Tom was a big part of this...

Truly an icon in the insurance world. I always enjoyed chatting with you over the past 30 years. You will be missed! Condolences to the Crawford Family. He was GOOD man.

Thomas's Obituaries

Thomas Andrew Crawford, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, of Rocky Hill, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly at his home on November 27, 2025.  Known to friends and family as “Tom” “Tommy” or “Big Tom”, he was born in New London, CT on March 29, 1950, to the late Marion and George Crawford.

Tom graduated from New London High School in 1968, a Varsity letterwinner and went on to earn a degree in Mathematics from Providence College in 1972.  Tom was gifted with people skills.  He liked people and they liked him.  He is remembered as a beloved and dedicated educator at Rocky Hill High School from 1973 to 1983.  In whatever Tom was involved in his leadership skills were evident.  He served as President of the Rocky Hill Teachers’ Association and in his second career as President of the Connecticut Insurance Marketing Association.  He often credited his success in his second career in insurance to the days spent in the classroom.  Tom retired in 2023 as a director of marketing in commercial sales and maintenance.

Beyond his professional life, Tom, a lifeguard, had a love of the beach, dogs, all music, sports and spending time with his family and friends. A basketball official for IAOABO for many years, he delighted in watching his son, nephews and nieces play all sports, and it has been the highlight of this past fall as things came full circle watching his grandson play soccer at Xavier.  Tom was a lifelong Yankees and Giants fan, along with a dedicated UCONN women’s basketball supporter, never missing a game.   Tom’s vibrant and outgoing personality overflowed into all aspects of his life.  He enjoyed meeting and talking to people everywhere he went. Tom touched so many lives and was a guiding force in the lives of many.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Patricia Dotoli Crawford, his son Thomas Patrick (Alexa), his cherished grandson Hunter Thomas, his sister Elizabeth Marr, brother Robert Crawford (Diane),
