Not sure what to say?

Tommy was a great guy I knew him from Sunoco, loved him.

I am heartbroken over the loss of my Uncle Tommy, but I am deeply grateful for the years and memories we shared. He lived in the bedroom next to mine from when I was a little boy through high school, and because of that, so much of my childhood includes him. He truly felt more like an older brother than just an uncle. He had a huge personality and the most natural sense of humor. Some of my favorite memories are simply of laughing with him. He had a way of turning ordinary days into something...

Uncle Tommy, you will be dearly missed. Thank you for being such a wonderful uncle. I’ll always remember your humor and all the fun memories we shared. Though part of me feels deeply saddened without you, your memory will stay in my heart forever and continue to make me smile from ear to ear. Wishing you eternal peace. I love you, RIP.

Tommy, the love we shared and your positive spirit will stay with us forever. We will always carry the heavy burden of your loss in our days , we will feel you beside us in moments of silence and laughter alike. We would not have wanted our life any other way than the many years we spent closely together as a family. You will always be loved and held dear to us. May god hold you in his care now, happy and whole, until we meet again.

Tommy was not just an uncle , he was an actual legend of my childhood.. more like an older sibling. Among myself, my siblings, and our cousins we could sit around for hours on end talking about Uncle Tommy stories. He lived in our home for nearly 20 years so he was alongside us in all of our milestones. We grew up with Tommy and he was a part of our upbringing. Wether he was showering us with gifts or scheming up a joke - his goal was to always make us smile and laugh.. he succeeded at that...

My sweet Uncle ♥ you left a void that could never be filled. Your memory will live on through all the stories we have. You were truly one of a kind with the biggest heart. I am grateful to have had you for the time that I did. I love you forever- may you be at peace - enjoying a cold Coke with Chomi in your lap.

Tom was a very friendly person when I got gas at the Rutherford Sunoco!
He always had a smile on his face.I will miss him very much!
He was a great person!

Thomas's Obituary

Thomas Huynh, 62, of Rutherford, NJ, passed away on February 23rd, 2026, at home surrounded by his nieces Jasmine and Ashley Grey. Tommy was born to his mother, Ky Thi Nguyen and his father, Tham Ba Huynh. Tommy and his twin Keith were the youngest of 9 siblings. Tommy was a proud brother to Duyen, Khanh, Peter, Paul, Tuyet, David, Judy, and his twin Keith. Tommy was also a loving Uncle to all his nieces and nephews: Jasmine, Jenny, David, Justin, Michelle, Tiffany, Kimberly, Jessica, May, Ashley, and Michael. He was born in Saigon Vietnam, and came to the United States at the end of the Vietnam War in 1975. He was just 12 years old when he and his siblings arrived. Tommy attended Rutherford High School. Tommy wore many hats during his career but was well known for his culinary skills and work at Sunoco.

Tommy was a proud resident of Rutherford and was known by many. He would often be seen riding his bike around town, greeting others with his contagious smile and cracking jokes. He had a genuine love for everyone around him- family, friends, and strangers alike. Tommy didn’t care who you were, but if he could make you laugh or smile, his job was done.

Tommy had many passions in life, including- pro & local wrestling, playing drums or jamming out on the guitar, being with friends and family, and a huge love for dogs- especially his beloved chihuahua Chomi. He also always  enjoyed a good meal with a cold soda, especially after hitting up a local flea market or Chinatown. Tommy also loved rock & roll and always wore T-shirts of the bands he adored including: Black Sabbath, Guns N Roses, Kiss, and Led Zeppelin. He was a simple man, who spread so much love and laughter to everyone he came across. His legacy will always remain in the hilarious stories we have about him and will continue to help us smile in times of mourning or when feeling his absence. Tommy was more than just a funny person, he was intentful and his love language was giving gifts, whether it was a snack for the road or a knick-knack he had saved, you were always leaving with something after a visit with him. Heaven is lucky to have gained such a funny and caring man, he will be making all our angels laugh up there. Rest in heavenly peace our sweet Tommy. To know you was to truly love you and you have been such a blessing in all of our lives. May you be reunited with your Mother, Father, Siblings and your sweet Chomi-bear.

“And it’s whispered that soon, If we all call the tune Then the piper will will lead us to reason And a new day will dawn For those who stand long  And the forest will echo with laughter” -Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin
