Not sure what to say?

My condolences to Mary Lou and family. Tom will be dearly missed. Loved his sense of humor. He was a real trooper, fought to the end. He is in a better place now, no more pain, watching over you all. He left good memories behind.

My deepest condolences to your family. Tom was my dad’s best friend and I have fond memories of those days. My prayers are with you all at this difficult time.

Marylou & Family, we were sorry to hear of your loss, My Tom’s memory live on. With our deepest sympathy. God Bless
Respectfully Raylene & Pat

Thomas's Obituary

Thomas F. Klein, Jr., age 85, of Philadelphia, PA, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Tom attended Father Judge High School, where he was part of the first graduating class. He then proudly enlisted in the Air Force, serving from 1957 to 1960, partly stationed in Kimpo, Korea.

He was an Eagles season ticket holder for 43 years spanning over three different stadiums. Tom got to see a Super Bowl win in 2018, but never forgave them for getting rid of Doug Peterson, Carson Wentz, and Nick Foles after the Super Bowl.

He loved cars - Fords, of course, and always tried to get someone/anyone to go to the auto show with him.

Tom had a Batman obsession and owned over 50 Batman figures, plus posters, comic books, and more. He was also a big Elvis Presley fan with a comprehensive collection of Elvis albums, cd's, movies and books. He was an avid reader of American history. He loved flea markets and card shows and once Amazon and eBay started, he was hooked, shopping all the time. He believed that the person who died with the most stuff won.

He was very handy around the house. He laid pine floors throughout most of the house. He and Mike DiMaggio built their sundecks together and our sundeck lasted 43 years. He even built an AMC stadium-style theatre in his basement.

Tom was also a very talented artist. He liked drawing in pencil. He produced portraits of Elvis, John Wayne, Marylin Monroe, George Washington and Pope Francis.

He enjoyed two trips to Germany and said he was finally home when he got to the Hofbräuhaus in Munich.

Even though he stressed that he was NOT a gardener, Tom helped improve the Prayer Garden at St Anselm. He made sure the waterfall got a statue of St Joseph the Carpenter opposite the Blessed Mother. He also built a memorial to remember all veterans and helped redesign the garden pathways.

Beloved husband of Mary Lou Klein (nee Ostertag); loving father of Tom, Jen, Nick, Jes (Pat) Klein-Neill; cherished grandfather of Kayla and Ray; dearest brother of Arnold Klein and Mickey (Frank) Tagye (nee Klein).

Through the example of hard work and dedication, Tom will live on through the hearts and memories of his children and grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend services on Monday, October 14, 2024, at St. Anselm Church, 12670 Dunks Ferry Road, Philadelphia, PA 19154. Visitation 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM and Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM.

Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Tom's memory may be made to Father Judge High School Crusader Campaign at https://www.friendsoffatherjudge.com/crusader-campaign.html
