Thomas Nunn Jr. Obituary

Thomas Stanton Nunn Jr. (“Tommy Junior”), born on April 3, 1953, passed away at his residence in Clermont, Florida on October 7, 2024.

Tommy Junior went to North Miami Senior High School, graduating in 1972 and going to work for Friendly Ford. He spent most of his career as a teacher at Lindsay Hopkins Technical College, also serving as a member of the United Teachers of Dade. He had a passion for automotives and animals—rescuing all the strays that would pass through. He loved to work with his hands and build anything he could from a desk to a bookshelf. Despite a life with many health issues, his family liked to say, “he had a lot of lives”. He pushed through many struggles and would do anything to help his family and friends. He had a huge heart, was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, and will be missed by so many.

Tommy Junior is survived by his wife of 46 years, Linda, his son Thomas, and his daughter Jennifer. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas, and his mother Jean. He is survived by his daughter-in-law Jamie, his son-in-law Alex, his grandsons Henry, Sam, and Jack, and his granddaughter Amaya. He is also survived by his biological mother Esther, his sister Linda Sue, his half-brothers Jimmy and Richard, brothers-in-law Charles and Robert, uncles, aunts and many cousins.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date, to be determined.

My brother and I had the fortune of sharing a childhood with Tommy’s birthday pool parties, hide n seek, freeze tag and countless ole times BarBQs. They are among my fondest memories of being with Tommy and having fun as a kid
Such a proud father with his wife Linda had the blessing of the great American family a son, daughter and grandchildren.
Tommy was an ace mechanic and I just enjoyed being around him as he worked keeping our cars and trucks running chewing the fat. His infectious smile and laughter was a joy to be around
He was a loving, caring and totally loyal man to both his family and countless friends. Being around Tommy in the early years, adult years and retirement years he remained the same joyful man I’ll never forget.
I’m sure he has returned to his mom and dad with members of the Thaysen, Goode.families welcoming him to paradise

What a beautiful tribute for an amazing man. I first met Tommy thru Linda, and knew immediately just how special of a man he was. He had that mischievous smile, loved life, always willing to help others weather it was a person or of course his love of animal's. He always made me giggle when he would say to Linda "Now Linda" , when she was up to something, and the love he had for Linda always showed through each time he looked at her. Tommy actually kind of took me under his wing, he always asked how I was, always asked if I needed anything, he was just that special kind of man. I remember when Jennifer & Alex were getting ready for there wedding, we were at Jennifer's shower and the boy's showed up, teasing Alex about his upcoming bachelor party, one look at Tommy and you could see the love, pride & excitement he had for the upcoming wedding. And then of course at the wedding to watch him walk Jennifer down the aisle was incredible. It took my breath away to see a father that loved his little girl so much, beaming with so much pride. We will miss you Tommy, and I promise I will take Linda, Tommy Jr., & Jennifer under my wing just like you did for me. I love you, Michele P.

Looking at the video with all of the photos brings back memories. You were wonderful to my sister for all these years. An Amazing Father to you son and daughter and loving grandpa to your grandchildren. Great to family and friends. Always an incredible man to all who knew you whether human or animal. Glad that you were my brother in law for all those years. My heart breaks and is very sad that you aren't with us any longer, but comforted to know you're in GOD's hands now. Love, prayers and blessings to you and your soul forever Tom

It’s so strange to live in a world where people you have known your entire life are no longer a part of it. Tommy was a constant presence in my childhood and adult years as he was my dad’s very best friend. They were brothers in every way that it mattered. Tommy was incredibly generous, a loving father and husband, and a really, really good friend. He always called to check in and make sure everyone was doing okay. Without ever saying it, I knew he would give us the shirt off his back if we needed it. He was incredibly proud of his kids and grandchildren. He loved Linda with all his heart. He was an advocate for teachers, their families and those who he and Dad said “worked for a living.” They just don’t make ‘em like that anymore.

On behalf of the entire Stephens family, we send all our love and prayers to those who loved “this good ole boy.”

When you’re a kid, your dad is a superhero and a larger-than-life presence. Most kids don’t witness their parents at their lowest point, but we did. What I didn’t realize at the time was that he may have been at his lowest and weakest points during my teenage years, but he was actually one of the strongest people I’ve ever known. Most would never have made it through a liver transplant let alone all the health issues that came with it afterwards. He pushed through so many procedures and complications and made it out on the other side every time. Our family used to always say he was like a cat with 9 lives—nothing was going to take him out. But, as it is with life, he pushed on for as long as he could, and he did his best with the time he had. He held on that last weekend to see my brother and me—and then he was finally able to rest. I love you so much dad and I am so grateful you are finally resting at peace and no longer in any pain. I imagine you are running around fixing cars and seeing grandma and grandpa, sharing stories and laughing with your whole, young healthy body—grinning from ear to ear with those squinty eyes and rosy cheeks. I love you dad and will always be your pumpkin shine.

Tommy was a great Union brother. We often sat together at Stewards Meetings and E board meetings. He was a true leader and happy to call him friend. May his memory be for a blessing.

Literally, Tommy was bigger than life!
His positivity & encouraging words were always uplifting. I remember he would say " now Linda"!
We are heartbroken & wish we had seen him & linda before his passing.
Ronnie (my husband) were friends since high-school & had a bond like no other.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen"

My heart is crushed as I try to process losing the best brother in law one could have asked for. You were one of a kind. Thank you for the wonderful memories you left us and the joyful times we had. Thank you for being a wonderful husband to my sister and a great father to my niece and nephew. You lived and loved a full life, now rest in peace my friend.
