Not sure what to say?

I'm sure sorry I was unable to pay my respects at Don's funeral a while back. He was a jim-dandy, and the whole darned bunch of us miss him more than any of us can possibly begin to say. He loved Christmas, family get-togethers, watching tv westerns and just enjoying life in general. Folks, be good to each other and treat each other right, old Don would want it that way. God bless his family and friends, and don't forget to say grace at your dinner table.

Our sincerest condolences Donna and family and all who loved your Dad. He had a beautiful life of service and he leaves a legacy of love! May he Rest in Peace

Paula and Donna, I am so sorry to hear about Mr Don. He was such a good man. I know today will be hard. Just please know that my thoughts and prayers are with both of you and your families. I won’t be able to make the service today since I will be babysitting my grandson. I know he and Margie are celebrating. I pray for comfort and peace. Love you both my friends. ❤❤. Karri Hansford

"I'll see you sooner...or later" There is no bad day when shared with Don Ruth. I am grateful for your sweet spirit filled with abounding humor, love and acceptance which remains within our hearts. Thank you!

One of my favorite people in this world. I love this man!!

Don was a friend and coworker at TXU for many years. He was an excellent mentor for when I moved to Wichita Falls from west Texas years ago. I had admiration for his advice an council when facing important decisions as were many others.

Obituary

Thomas's Obituary

On February 16, Thomas “Don” Ruth, precious husband, daddy, granddad, uncle, & friend, peacefully left this earth to live eternally in Heaven with his Lord & Savior.

Celebration of Don’s life will be held at 2:30 on Wednesday, February 21 at Holliday First Baptist Church with Mr. Gil Peters officiating. Interment will follow at Holliday Cemetery under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls.

Don was born August 21, 1930 in Holliday, Tx to John & Artie Ruth, and was a lifelong resident of Holliday. He graduated from Holliday High School in 1947, where he was valedictorian, and graduated from Midwestern University (no State then!) in 1951.

Don married his sweetheart, Margie Clemens in 1953 and spent the next 60 years being an exemplary model of love, patience and kindness.

After college, Don went to work for Texas Electric Service Co (now Oncor), where he worked for 42 years, making lifelong friends, some who he continued to see every Friday morning until just recently at Whataburger, telling and retelling all their favorite TESCO stories.

After retirement, Don kept busy by serving as president of the Holliday Cemetery Committee for 17 years.  He even carried his business card which read, “ I’ll see you sooner… or later.”

Don was very entertaining with his extremely dry sense of humor.  It was hard to tell whether he was being serious or pulling your leg – usually it was the latter!  He kept that sense of humor right to the end.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, John & Artie Ruth, his beautiful wife Margie, and sister Murlene Smith.

He is survived by two daughters, Paula Hall of Holliday and Donna Ezzell (Denise Sifuentes) of Denton, four grandchildren, Brittney Wells (Brian) of Holliday, Leslie Harrison (Ross) of Wichita Falls, Leah Benabe (Bryan) of Dallas and Benton Ezzell (Kelsey) of Lewisville, and six great grandchildren, Carley and Kendall Wells, Crue, Ardyn and Halle Bell Harrison, Bentleigh Ezzell and Holland Benabe (due in April), as well as several nieces, nephews, and special friend Wanda Pfnister. And not to be forgotten, his constant companion for the past 10 years, Ruthie (she had him wrapped around her paw).

Many thanks to the truly amazing nurses and everyone at Healing Hands and special angels Vyvyan Davis, Pam McWhorter, Laura Endsley, Charlotte Pennington, and Mary Johnson.

The family requests memorial donations be made to First Baptist Church Holliday, Holliday Cemetery Assoc , Holliday Senior Citizens Assoc., or The Pattie Means Ministry.
