Peacefully passed away at home in Prior Lake on 12/3/18 at the age of 92. He was born and raised in Elk River where he lived for a major part of his life. For over the last thirty years, he and his wife Prudy have been Floridians enjoying the warm winters there and the beautiful summers in Minnesota.
He graduated from Elk River High School in 1944 and shortly thereafter enlisted in the Army Air Corps where he served during WW II. He later attended the Universityof Minnesota where he made many lifelong friends. He married his high school sweetheart, Prudence LaPoint, in 1949 and together they raised their four children on the banks of the Mississippi River in Elk River. He was very active in the community and served in many leadership positions including the formation of Guardian Angels of Elk River. Additionally, he was a volunteer fireman, American Legion Commander, Bank Director, and member of the Royal Order of Jesters. He was a proud American patriot.
He loved the outdoors and greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling. He was a great socializer and was well known for his storytelling. Perhaps his most recent favorite thing was Prudy’s annual strawberry rhubarb pie!
By his own admission, he had a wonderful life.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Prudence; his son, Stewart (Debbie) Wilson, daughters Nancy Hiner (Arch McCord), Sally (Mark) Pallansch and Jennie Wilson (Cheryl Cook); six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Edith Wilson, sisters, Jean and Margaret, and son-in-law, Dr. Ross Hiner.
