Mr. Troy Tillman Ammons Junior, 96, of Trotman, Georgia, died on January 9, 2018, at the Southwest Georgia Regional Medical Center, (the old Patterson Hospital) in Cuthbert Georgia. He was born on February 28, 1921, in Randolph County, Georgia to the late Troy Tillman Ammons, Senior and Lucy Mason Ammons. He is preceded in death by both of his parents and two of his brothers, Joseph Ammons and George Frank Ammons. Troy is survived by his wife, Mary Harmon Ammons, of Trotman, Georgia, his son, Troy "Tim" Tillman Ammons III, of Deerfield Beach, Florida, and his two daughters, Pamela Ammons (Herman) Hendricks of Lake Butler, Florida, and Ellen Ammons (Chuck) Klusmann of Pensacola, Florida. He was a college graduate, with a Bachelor of Science degree; he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Troy was a veteran and served in the United States of America Navy during World War II. After his military service ended, Troy worked as a civil service employee at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Florida. Troy was a talented artist. Many of his paintings were outdoor scenes. He loved being outdoors whether he was hunting or fishing. He was a member of the Coweta Falls Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, and he served on the Board of Sumter EMC. He was a member of the Lumpkin First Baptist Church and served as a deacon and church treasurer. Serving as a Gideon, Troy would travel, speaking to groups, and spreading the gospel. Troy had the pleasure of participating in a World War II Honor Flight to Washington, DC. Troy and Mary enjoyed driving through the county and visiting with their neighbors and friends. After moving from Pensacola, Florida, back to Trotman, Troy became known as the unofficial "Mayor of Trotman", a title he wore proudly.
