Valeria (Valerie) Maria Gentry (Short) was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on August 16, 1956, to Cleveland and Helen Short.She attended Stratford High School and later went to trade school for technical training in Nursing at Tennessee State Area Vocational Technical School. She went on to become a nurse at TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center for 30 years and mother of four children and dedicated wife for 43 years. She was a devoted Christian, whose life was deeply rooted in prayer, scripture, and service. Her faith in Christ guided her every decision, and she found strength in God’s promises. She faithfully served in her church (Locust Ridge Church, Arrington TN) community, teaching, worshiping, and encouraging others in faith.Valeria passed away on September 5th, 2025 at 7:28 am after fighting Alzheimer's Dementia for 8 years in loving care of her son (Christopher Gentry) and daughter Talitha Gentry (Burke) reading prayer and scripture.She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Kelvin Short and Melvin Short.Valeria leaves to cherish her memory and to be celebrated by her sons, Kendall Short and Christopher Gentry; Daughters Kimberly Gentry (Davis) and Talitha Gentry (Burke); Sister Theresa Short; Brother, Cleveland Short; three grandchildren Jason Short, Jayda Short, and Jaiden Tolbert; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and associates.
