Vernon Gamble Sr. was the devoted, loving husband of "Verdie" Gamble. He was born in Plateau in 1923 and left us on February 3, 2015. From childhood he looked after his family. Mr. Gamble served in World War II in Italy and Africa at great personal sacrifice. Mr. Gamble returned home to Verdie and the hard work of building a home and a good life for loved ones. Through their 65 years together he loved and cared for Verdie and the rest of his family with unfailing patience and generosity. To spend time with Verdie and Vernon was to witness integrity, kindness and gentleness of spirit uncommon today. He is survived by Vernon Gamble, Jr., grandsons Vernon Gamble III and Justin Gamble, four great grandchildren, Brother Wilburt, and three sisters. He also blessed a wonderful group of friends who were privileged to share his life and an occasional great hamburger, which always put a smile on his face. We will miss you Vernon.Graveside service at 10:00am Monday February 16, 2015 at the Gethsemane North Cemetery, 730 S Shelton Beach Rd, Eight Mile, AL.
