On Sunday night, March 16, 2025, Veronica Kaminski passed just shy of her 92nd birthday. Living most of her early life in Brooklyn with her parents Victor and Hannah Klepacki, she took very early on to learning the Double Bass. A graduate of Bay Ridge High School, being taught later by Fred Zimmermann and playing Bass for Steve Spitalny's All Girl Orchestra, she later auditioned for the Boston Pops, NY Philharmonic, and got hired by the Toronto Symphony Orchestra conducted by Sir Ernest MacMillan in the mid 1950s. She toured with the orchestra for several seasons before getting married in 1959 to Serge Kaminski.
She later played keyboard and violin and played at numerous family functions. She played piano in the 1980s for the Narrows Community Theater for shows including Hello Dolly and South Pacific and gave lessons. A lifelong member of Local 802, the American Federation of Musicians, she was a musician for Our Lady of Angels Church in Bay Ridge Brooklyn and later sang in the choir. She is survived by her 2 sons Michael and Victor Kaminski, granddaughter Rebecca Kaminski, and grandson Matthew Kaminski. I hope Saint Peter gives her a hand carrying the bass through the Pearly Gates. - - - - - - VisitationThursday , March 20, 20252 PM - 4 PM & 7 PM - 9 PM
