DURHAM: Victor R. “Pete” Overton, Jr. went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 24, 2016. Mr. Overton was the son of Victor R. Overton and the late Lula Yates Overton. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a foreman for NCDOT. He was a proud member of the US Air Force. He was a member of Rose of Sharon Baptist Church.Mr. Overton is survived by his wife, Rebecca S. Overton; one son Victor D. Overton and wife Beth; two sisters, Victorine Thompson, and Frances Shaw; and two grandchildren, Andrea Hines and Jessica Weinkle.A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 2:00pm at Rose of Sharon Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff McCarthy officiating. Burial will follow after the service at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday at the home. Flowers are acceptable or memorial donations may be made to Duke Hospice, 4321 Medical Park Dr., Durham, 27704.
