Vincent Ray Truslow, 77, of Stafford, VA, departed this earth on December 23, 2024, to join his mother, Marie Truslow and father, Donald Truslow in heaven to spend a glorious eternity.
He has said goodbye to his wife, Priscilla Truslow; his children, Gaylen (Eszter Varga) Truslow of Dumfries, VA, and Detrius (Robert) Williams of Woodbridge, VA; siblings, Susie (John) Elliot of Stamford, CT, Percy Truslow of Spotsylvania, VA, Reverend Kenneth (Michele) Truslow of Scotch Plains, NJ, Latichia Lewis of Stafford, VA, Gwendolyn (Curtis) Moore of Greenbelt, MD, and Rachel Campbell of Stafford, VA; his grandchildren, Simone Bolton of Woodbridge, VA, and Daniella Truslow of Dumfries, VA; several cousins, nieces, and nephews; and a host of other relatives.
Vincent was the oldest of six siblings, Suzie, Percy, Reverend Kenneth, Gwyndelon, Latichia, and Rachael. He was born and raised in Brooke, VA. Vincent lived a life surrounded by family and a rich history of culture in the Aquia/Brooke River Region. His preteen years were full of responsibilities and required his maturity to be present at all times. His faith in God helped him to overcome many challenges and navigate the pain of his father being absent from his life because of medical reasons. Vincent’s strong will to step up and protect; provided the foundation for his siblings.
As a teen, Vincent was a patriotic spirit who believed in his values for both family and country. After high school he volunteered and joined the United States Army in 1968. He served in the Army from 1968 to 1971, which included one tour in Vietnam as a Spec 4 in the Fire Direction Center in artillery. After returning from Vietnam, he used his GI bill to build his mother and sisters a more modern home in Brooke.
In 1971, he met his wife Priscilla in Washington, DC. He and Priscilla took up residence in Clinton and Fort Washington, MD before moving to Brooke, VA. As a husband and a father, Vincent dedicated his life to his family and provided a home not only for his immediate family but for families transitioning during their various phases of life. Welcoming others into his home to help and assist when needed was the hallmark of who he was as a man. It was no secret that Vincent’s spiritual saint was Saint Nicholas (the saint of giving).
The dedication his family witnessed while supporting his father in Roanoke and comfort visits to his Aunt Susie and Grandaddy Harvey were beautiful moments of compassion for his seniors. His high-quality spirit made his kids proud. Never tired, always giving, and eager to assist were values and actions most noticed by those close to him. Vincent is now at peace and no longer in physical or mental stress as his family will miss his presence on this earth. His wife will miss her companion, comforter, and giving spirit. His kids will miss him playing with his grandchildren and giving sound advice from paths previously walked by him. Go and be with God as God has called you home after working your shift on this earth.
A viewing will be held at United Faith Christian Ministry, 150 Susa Drive, Stafford, VA, on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at 10:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. The interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery at 1:30 PM.
