Vivian Sue Rose, 77, of Canada, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2025, at Riverview Health Care Center in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. Sue left her earthly home surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 3, 1948, in Canada, Kentucky, Sue was a lifelong resident of eastern Kentucky where she lived and loved and served her family and neighbors all of her days.
Sue was the beloved daughter of Heston “Bud” and Mary Ellen Rose and Juanita Susie Meade, all of whom preceded her in death. She is also reunited in rest with her brothers and sisters: Elbert Heston Rose, George Robert Rose, Herman Rondall Rose, Nyoka Rose Stanley Baker, Joseph Meade, and Alfred Wayne Meade.
A devoted homemaker, Sue poured all of her love and energy into caring for her family and anyone who crossed her path. She was a member of McVeigh United Baptist Church and lived her faith through quiet service, unwavering kindness, and her steadfast presence in the lives of those around her.
Aunt Sue is survived by her brother-in-law, best friend, and devoted caretaker, Thomas Baker, one of God’s greatest gifts to the Rose family. She leaves behind a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends—all of whom she helped to raise, nurture, and guide. Her hugs were always healing and her heart always full.
Sue was the best friend, confidant, and encourager of every child born into the Rose family. She was a healer of skinned knees and hurt hearts. A prolific crayon and coloring book artist, her creations—often completed alongside the children she loved—will be treasured heirlooms for generations.
To know Sue was to know you can always come home. Her legacy is one of unconditional love.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Saturday July 26, 2025, at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home with Steve White officiating.
