I'm so sorry to learn of Henry's death. I served with Henry in South Korea in 1974. He was a great guy and good friend to me. Peace be with you and your family.

It has been one month since you went to Heaven. I waited till the 24th to complete this last page of your memory book. Seems you had a thing for the number 24. We added up all the things that occurred on the 24th and there seems to be about 7 things.
What can you say about a man you have spent 42 years with? We started out young and unsure of things. But we figured it out along the way. We had our disagreements, but what couple doesn't. ...

To my dad, words cannot describe how much you meant to me and my family and how much we love you. Thank you for everything you showed me, everything you taught me and for bringing Trae and I up to be the men that we are today

Spartanburg, SC- Wales Henry Stoner, Jr., 65, husband of Lynn Taylor Stoner, died Monday, July 24, 2017 at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.
Born April 24, 1952 in Enoree, SC, Henry was a son of the late Wales Henry Stoner, Sr. and Sara Summey Stoner. He graduated from Woodruff High School, class of 1970, and Spartanburg Community College, class of 1972, with a degree in Machine Tool Technology. Henry joined the Army in 1972 with basic training in Fort Jackson, Columbia, SC and Fort Mommeth, New Jersey. He served his country as a strategic microwave repair specialist and was stationed at Camp Humphries in Korea 1974. Henry was employed as Vice President of Camco Machining, Inc. in Spartanburg, SC and formerly employed with Michelin Tire. Henry was a member of Enoree First Baptist Church.
Henry enjoyed fishing, boating, working in the yard, riding on the tractor, and his grandkids. But with his machine shop knowledge, he started doing woodworking. He loved creating furniture from reclaimed lumber and made several things for area residents. His most proud moment was when he was asked by the Chapman family to construct the display tables for the History Museum in the Chapman Cultural Center from the Riverdale Mill lumber that the Chapman family owned. Henry’s work can be seen there today and into the future. Henry had an eye for detail, resulting in beautiful pieces. He took great pride and joy in seeing an old beam or flooring board come to life as a useful piece of furniture.
In addition to his beloved wife of 42 years, he is survived by his children, Wales H. “Trae” Stoner, III and Clint Taylor Stoner and his wife, Hannah; grandchildren, Haley, Lacey, Lily, Chase, and Wales; a brother, Thomas F. Stoner; an aunt, Margaret Summey Workman; brother in-law, Jimmy Lanford; niece, Lori L. Armstrong and her husband, Mark, and their children, Dawson and Hayden; and a nephew, Jamie Lanford.
He was predeceased by a sister, Marian S. Lanford.
The family will receive friends Thursday, July 27th, 6-8PM at Dunbar Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 28th, 1PM at Cedar Spring Baptist Church, officiated by Reverend Todd Lowe.
Burial with military honors will follow in Heritage Memorial Gardens.
