CLANTONWalter C. Clanton passed away on May 30, 2017 at Ochsner Medical Center. He was 78. He is survived by his wife Theadora Picou Clanton and his daughter Dr. Naja M. Clanton, a son Walter C. Clanton, Jr. and three grandchildren Marissa Clanton, Kennedy Clanton and Hunter Clanton. He is also survived by three sisters in law Amy P. Harris, Hattie Proctor, Yvonne G. Picou and one brother in law Clarence Proctor, Sr. and many other relatives and friends. He was proceeded in death by his parents Walter J. and Thelma Hayes Clanton, one brother Dr. Lemuel Clanton, two sisters Hazel C. Conley, Creasie C. Price, and one daughter Shawn Clanton. Walter was a 1959 graduate of Walter L. Cohen Senior High School. He attended Southern University of Baton Rouge and Dillard University. He was employed for thirty-five years at the Loyola Street Branch of the United States Post Office. The Clanton family has attended Mount Zion United Methodist Church for generations. As a young child, Walter participated in numerous church activities and events. He particularly enjoyed singing in the choir. A private graveside funeral and interment were held on Monday June 5, 2017 officiated by Rev. Sonya Lars.
