Walter was always kind and caring. He encouraged enjoying the outdoors through his work as a state park ranger. He was always fair and loved to meet new people and talk. His engaging personality made Bayou Segnette a fun place to visit.

Walter O’Neal Ledet, 83, of New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 2, 2025. He was the beloved son of the late Rev. Joseph Ledet and Cora Ledet.
Walter is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Massie L. Ledet; his loving daughter, Toni Ledet; and his sons, Joseph (Yolanda) Ledet, Pierre (Carmen) Ledet, Patrick (Tierra) Ledet, and Francisco (Ginger) Ledet. He is also survived by his sister, Rev. Sarita M. Ledet, along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends who will cherish his memory.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Dennis Funeral Home, 1812 Louisiana Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70115. Visitation begins at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Sarita M. Ledet will officiate. Interment will follow at Divine Providence Cemetery in Metairie, Louisiana. Services are entrusted to Dennis Funeral Home (504) 899-8252.
