Wanda Faye Artis, age 57, of Suffolk, Virginia, entered into eternal rest on January 16, 2026. She was born on February14, 1968, to the late Zebedee Artis, Sr. and Jean Artis.
Wanda received her formal education in Suffolk and was a proud graduate of John Yeates High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Virginia Commonwealth University. Wanda continued her education at OldDominion University where she was credentialed by the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board, and became certified in Cytotechnology. Wanda devoted her healthcare career to the detection of disease and served faithfully as a Cytotechnologist in Hampton Roads and Northern Virginia areas. Through her work, she exemplified diligence, integrity ,and a commitment to excellence in service to others.
After several years, Wanda returned to Suffolk, Virginia, desiring to be closer to her family, whom she loved dearly. Shewa’s admired for her gentle spirit, kind heart, and generosity toward others. Her life reflected compassion, humility, and quiet strength.
A woman of steadfast faith, Wanda was a devoted member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. She studied the Word of God faithfully and consistently encouraged her family to grow closer to God and remain rooted in His truth.
Wanda was preceded in death by her father, Zebedee Artis, Sr., and her sister, Beverly Artis. Her passing has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of her loved ones, and she will be deeply missed.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory her loving daughter, Naomi Rabb; her mother, Jean Artis; her brothers, Zebedee Artis, Jr., Christopher "Stefon" Artis (Marian), and Dwayne Artis; her sister, Zelda Fulgham (Fletcher); and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
Her earthly labor is now complete. God, in His infinite wisdom, has called His faithful servant home. Though we mourn her passing, we are comforted by the assurance that she is reunited with her father and sister in heaven, where there is no more pain, suffering, or sorrow.
Reflecting her loving and thoughtful spirit, Wanda texted these words to her family: “This is what we tend to do when we lose our loved ones who have passed away. Just think about the best (good) times with them.”
We grieve with faith, knowing that “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:8). Wanda Faye Artis, we will forever remember and cherish the good times we shared with you.
