With heavy hearts, yet with deep love and gratitude for her beautiful life, we announce that Wanda Faye Jenkins, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, entered her heavenly home on November 7, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 87 years old. Wanda lived a life devoted to her faith, her family, and her community, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, service, and unconditional love.
Family and friends are invited to visitation on Sunday, November 9, 2025, between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. at Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Burkburnett. A funeral service to celebrate Wanda’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 10, 2025, at The River Assembly of God in Burkburnett, Texas, with Rev. David Jenkins, Rev. Charles Reed, and Rev. John Gardner, officiating. Interment will follow at Burkburnett Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home of Burkburnett. All who knew and loved Wanda are invited to attend and share in the remembrance of a truly remarkable woman.
Wanda was born on January 30, 1938, to Delsie Pearl and Lee Matthew Hicks. On July 31, 1955, she married the love of her life, William “Billy” Julius Jenkins, and together they shared 69 wonderful years of marriage before his passing earlier this year. Their marriage was a shining example of unwavering love, faith, and commitment — a bond that served as the cornerstone of their family. A devoted homemaker and mother, Wanda dedicated her life to caring for her husband, children, and grandchildren. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, where countless meals were lovingly prepared and even more memories were made. Wanda’s warmth and generosity extended beyond her family; she was always ready to lend a hand, a meal, or a prayer to anyone in need.
Wanda was deeply active in her church and community, faithfully serving for many years at First Assembly of God Church. Her steadfast faith guided her in all things, and she found great joy in worship, fellowship, and helping others. She truly lived out the teachings of Christ through her kindness, compassion, and love for everyone she met. Those who knew Wanda will remember her for her gentle spirit, her servant’s heart, and her ability to make everyone she met feel like family. Wanda’s laughter was a gift her family will never forget. Whether she was sharing a funny story, teasing her loved ones with a twinkle in her eye, or finding humor in everyday life, she reminded everyone that joy and faith go hand in hand. Her sense of humor was just one of the many ways she showed her love. Though her passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of those who loved her, her legacy of faith, love, and devotion will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
Wanda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William “Billy” Jenkins; her parents; three sisters, Bertha, Doris, and Rillia; three brothers, Carl, Don, and Ira; and her grandsons Adam Jenkins and Devin Jenkins.
She is survived by her three children: Rev. David Lee Jenkins and wife, Darla; Larry Bryant Jenkins; and Teresa Ann Jenkins Organ and husband, Steve; her grandchildren Chris Organ, Jared Jenkins, Tyler Jenkins, Leighton Jenkins, Tanya Organ, Sarah Jenkins Allemand, and Avery Jenkins; ten great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren — all of whom brought her immense pride and joy.
Her family takes comfort in knowing that Wanda and Billy are reunited once again, hand in hand, in the presence of their Lord and Savior. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. ”— 2 Timothy 4:7 (KJV)
