Warren L. Mamlock

Homer resident Warren L. Mamlock, 80, died Saturday, June 22, 2013 at home. A celebration of his life will be 1:00 PM July 1, 2013 at American Legion Post 465, 2410 East End Rd Homer, AK with Pastor Greg from Homer Assembly of God officiating. Warren was born June 2, 1933 in Brooklyn, New York. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1949-1952. After his discharge, he worked as a cab driver in New York City in the 1950s. He then worked as a bartender, professional hunter, cook, hay bailer, chimney sweep, business owner, entrepreneur and farmer. He had lived in Patchogue, Long Island, New York, Providence, RI, and Bradenton, Fla. and seasonally in Homer since about 1998. He retired for good from farming in 2000, when his first grandchild was born.Warren loved to fish, hunt and drink, usually doing at least two of these at a time. ?The family would like to thank every one of his friends for their outpouring of love and help throughout his brief illness. He loved his ?Alaska Family? very much. When you think of Warren, think of all the laughs and drinks you may have shared together and know that when it came to his life, he really lived. He didn?t let anyone or anything hold him back. He would have wanted the same thing for his friends and family. He loved his friends, but family was first for Warren, and his life revolved around the people who called him, Husband, Dad, Uncle and Poppa.? His family wrote. Warren was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Mamlock, father, Lemuel C. Mamlock, and brother, Lemuel J. Mamlock. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Mamlock; son, Lem Mamlock; daughter and son-in-law, Misty and Geno Roberts; grandchildren, Grady C., Brianna N. and James L Mamlock and Emalie J. Roberts, all of Bradenton, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews and many special friends. Memorial donations may be sent to Hospice of Homer, 323 Soundview Ave., Ste. B., Homer, AK 99603. Arrangements were by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
