Warren's Obituary

Warren Hillard Ogden, Jr., 87 of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 25, 2017.

He was born in Amherst County, VA on October 8, 1929 to Warren Ogden, Sr. and Mary Loving Ogden.

He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Greenland (which he loved because it was the only place in the world he wasn’t hot!)

Warren is survived by his children, Doris Ogden, Charles Ogden, Janet Price (Mike), Penny “Flea” Simmons (Donnie), and Jerry Ogden (Jennifer). In addition to his children he is survived by their mother, Flora Ogden; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; his sister, Marie Moore; and brother, James Ogden.

He retired from Roanoke Electric Steel with 28 years of service. He loved playing spades, wrestling, hunting, gardening, the New York Yankees, NASCAR, and the Washington Redskins. But most of all he loved his family.

His favorite show was “The Price Is Right”. His family would like to invite you to “COME ON DOWN” to celebrate his life. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 27, 2017 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakey’s South Chapel. Funeral service will be at Oakey’s South Chapel on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 10 a.m. with Elwood McAllister officiating. Interment will follow at Southwest Virginia Veteran’s Cemetery in Dublin, Va.
