Wayne's Obituary

Clarence Wayne Darnell, 75, husband of Linda Kay Barnes Darnell, passed away on October 15, 2025, at his home in Anderson County. Born October 29, 1949, he was the son of the late Clinton Adolph Darnell and Zula “Judy” Belle Hawkins Darnell.

Wayne was a devoted member of Shiloh Christian Church. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War before working for General Electric in maintenance for 37 years. A loyal member of Frankfort VFW #4075, Wayne valued fellowship with fellow veterans. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking, watching Jeopardy!, and living the farm and country life he loved.

In addition to his wife of fifty-two years, Linda, Wayne is survived by his son, Joseph William Darnell (wife Tracy); three grandchildren, Zackory Shepard, Lexi Darnell, and Kayden Darnell; and a sister, Marilyn Mae Darnell Proctor (husband Bobby).

Along with his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by a son, Matthew Clinton Darnell; mother-in-law, Gladys Barnes; sister-in-law, Brenda Barnes Pittman; and nephews Ethan Drury and Jason Weber.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Shiloh Christian Church, 1122 Willisburg Road, Lawrenceburg, with Bro. Scott Osborn and Bro. Stephen Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Christian Church Cemetery, 1730 Fairview Road, Lawrenceburg. Visitation will be held from 5:00–8:00 PM on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Shiloh Christian Church, and again on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jackie Drury, Earl Puckett, Jr., Chris Puckett, Jordan Drury, Cameron Dean, Jared Davenport, Joseph Darnell, and Mahlin Rogers.

Memorial contributions in memory of Wayne may be made to Shiloh Christian Church, 1122 Willisburg Road, Lawrenceburg, KY 40342 or to VETS c/o Pam Brough, 1956 Clearwater Drive, Lawrenceburg, KY 40342.
