Wayne's Obituary

Wayne R. Klaren, 91, of Worthington, Iowa, passed away Peacefully on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, surrounded by his family in the comfort of his home.

The family will greet friends and relatives from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday , February 6, 2026 at St, Paul’s Catholic Church in Worthington, Iowa, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Tyler Raymond officiating.  Full military honors will follow services.

Wayne was born March 18, 1934, in Winthrop, Iowa, son of Leo and Evelyn Klaren.  He received his education in the Lamont High School.   Wayne was united in marriage to Ann (White) Klaren on February 13, 1960, in St. Paul’s Church in Worthington, Iowa.  Together they farmed in the rural Worthington, Iowa until 1987.  He then worked for 10 years at Modernfold in Dyersville, Iowa.

Wayne served in the US Army for two years he was a corporal in an Infantry division, serving 18 months in Germany.

A man of many passions, Wayne found joy in the simple and meaningful moments of life, he loved fishing, playing cards, restoring his beloved John Deere tractors, and spending time with those he cherished the most.  If he wasn’t at home, he could often be found at his daughter’s salon chatting with her clients or at his son’s home, happily mowing the lawn.  Wayne never missed an opportunity to support his grandchildren-whether cheering from the stands, chauffeuring them where they needed to go, or cooking and baking their favorite treats.

He attended mass regularly, having a strong faith in God.  He is a member of St. Paul’s Parish in Worthington, Iowa.

He is survived by his wife Ann Klaren of Worthington, IA; his daughter, Sara (Kevin) Wilgenbusch of Rickardsville, IA; seven grandchildren, Alyssa (Matt) Lattner, Adam (Erica) Wilgenbusch, Alyssa Wilgenbusch, Nathan Klaren, Chris Klaren, Josh Klaren and Gavin Tigges; one great grandchild, Huxlee Lattner and one on the way; his sibling Mary Lee (Ladd) Wessels of Dundee, IA; sisters and brother-in-laws.  Janice Tegeler of Dyersville, IA, Harry (Mary Lou) White of Worthington, IA and a sister-in-law, Mary Jane White of Dyersville, IA

He is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved sons, Jerry Klaren and David (Jenny) Klaren; his brothers, Gerald Klaren and Darryl (Marilyn) Klaren; his father and mother-in-law, Ed and Louise White; four brothers-in-law, Elmer White, George Hosch, Larry Tegeler and Justin Runde; and two sisters-in-laws, Lois Hosch and Delores Runde.
