Mr. Whit,
Never in a million years did I think speaking to you in Hardees on July 9th would be the last time. As a kid growing up in Pin Oaks, I remember you being our maintenance man. You were always a nice person. May you rest in peace and may God comfort your family.

Whit Williams II, 90, of Ford, VA, passed away peacefully at his daughter’s residence on July 17, 2025.
Born on November 23, 1934, in Bertie County, North Carolina, he was the beloved son of the late Whit and Sadie McNeal Williams. Whit was one of eleven children and was preceded in death by: Marie, Clarence, Paul, James, Jonathan, Randolph, Benjamin, and Robert.
Whit is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Nancy Williams; and their nine devoted children, Shirley Gray, Whit Williams III, Margie Brooks (Lawrence) Angela Patterson, Faith Thomas (Wayne), Daniel Williams, Tony Williams, Mark Williams, and Andrea Williams. He also leaves behind two loving sisters, Doris Tucker and Janie Lee Boykins; three sisters-in-law, Blanche James, Sandra Williams, and Dorothy Williams; twelve grandchildren, Shawntay, Jay, Alleen (Aaron), Philip, Allen (Yvonne) Crystal, Cory, Asia, Teyonna, Elijah, Imani, and Abraham; thirteen great grandchildren, Dwan, Camryn, Enniyah, Nevaeh, Sevion, Camron, Uriyus, Aaron, Austin, Cory, Ali, Landon and Jade; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Each morning, Whit began his day with prayer, followed by a phone call to his two eldest daughters and then he’d enjoy his favorite bowl of oatmeal. Every night, he would say to Mom, “We are blessed.” Even during times when they weren’t feeling their best, those simple words gave her strength and encouraged her to keep going.
Whit, affectionately known as “Pop Whit”, brought joy, laughter, and flair everywhere he went. He was known for his sharp fashion sense, especially his signature hats and his booming, cheerful presence. Whether cracking jokes, making others smile, or simply sitting at Hardee’s enjoying time with his friends (The Hardee’s Boys) Rev. Leon Giles, Gerald Mitchell, Freddie Taylor, Fred Holden, Walter Sykes, Leon Crawford, Raymond Scott, Mike Raigns, Doc Holloway, Michael Kates, James Branch, Chucky Goode, Ron Jarratt, Joseph Dickens, Leonard Langford, Edward Bracie and Andy Furrow. Special thanks to Robin Epps, General Manager of Hardee’s for her kindness towards our father. He lived life with a warmth that will never be forgotten.
After retiring from the Petersburg Redevelopment and Housing Authority with over thirty years of service, he enjoyed the simple pleasures of life surrounded by family and friends. Most importantly, he knew Jesus Christ, and his life was a reflection of faith, strength, and love.
He leaves a legacy of family, laughter, and love that will continue to echo for generations.
Services will be held 2:00 P.M., Friday, July 25, 2025, at the Chapel of the J.M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc, 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA, the Rev. Leon Giles, eulogist, the Rev. Dr. Rebecca Branch Griffin, officiant. The interment to follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park.
