William "Bill"'s Obituary

William “Bill” Geigert of Davison, age 94, died Sunday April 7, 2019 at the Cottages of Davison. Funeral Services will be held at 12:30 pm Thursday April 11, 2019 at Hansen Funeral Home Groves Chapel, Downtown Davison.  Son, Rev. Richard J. Geigert officiating, with burial to follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Family will receive visitors from 11:30 am Thursday until time of services. Those desiring may make contributions in Bill’s memory to the American Diabetes Association.

William was born in Philadelphia Pennsylvania on October 22, 1924 the son of the late David & Amanda (Ott) Geigert and had spent his early years in Pennsylvania and Davison since 1996. He was joined in marriage to Shelbert “Shelly” MacNamara on August 28, 1948 in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Answering the call of his country, Bill served in the US Army during WWII, he fought in the Battle of Normandy, “Omaha Beach”, where he was wounded and received the Purple Heart. William in his youth organized Bible Clubs, and youth rallies in Philadelphia; later he directed choirs at various churches, was a tenor vocalist, and led special needs Blind Bible Studies. He also served as a Sunday school teacher, guest preacher at various churches and served as church organist. He attended University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business & Finance. He served as Corporate Secretary of commercial property and casualty with Maryland Casualty Insurance Company for forty-eight years, retiring in 1985.

He leaves his wife of seventy years, Shelly, his children; William Kenneth Geigert, Michael Allen (Donna) Geigert, and Richard John (Cheri) Geigert. He also leaves his loving grandchildren Jodie (Joshua) Garber, Thomas (Aja) Geigert, and great grandchildren Gabriel Garber and Lily Garber.
