The entire Burns family grieves the loss of our friend of more than 30 years and our Pine Valley neighbor of more than 10 years. Bill Pomnitz will long be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family and his faith.

William “Bill” Pomnitz

 

            William Edward Pomnitz, 78, of Wilmington, died Friday, October 28, 2016, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter.

 

            Bill was born July 28, 1938 in Philadelphia, PA, son of the late William Edward Pomnitz, Sr. and Theresa Dacri Pomnitz.

 

            Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Naval Air Corps. He retired from General Electric after 31 years of service. He was a devout member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

 

            He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joan R. Pomnitz; son, William Edward Pomnitz, III of Mooresville, NC; daughter, Lisa Pomnitz of Wilmington; two grandchildren, Julianne Pomnitz and Nicole Pomnitz; sister, Elizabeth Rossi (Albert) of Atlanta, GA; nephew William Dautrich (Cindy) and their children, Deanna and Alyssa Dautrich, all of Atlanta.

 

            A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. John McGee officiating. The U.S. Navy will provide military honors at the church following the service.

 

            In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bill’s memory may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401, or to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 6650 Carolina Beach Road, Wilmington, NC 28412.
