Not sure what to say?

My deepest sympathy to Will's family and many friends. I had the good fortune to work with him at the Food Bank. Will was one of the nicest, sweetest people I've ever met. A delightful personality mixed with a clever, quick sense of humor and a warm, easy heart. I will carry the memory of Will's charm, grace and unmatched courage with me forever.

Bill, Joni and family
Our heart and prayers are with you. We will always cherish our wonderful memories knowing Billy. We love you guys! Rich and Beth

I joined Grandpa Olly and Grandma Dorothy for lunch today, in Pollock Pines. I am so sorry for your loss. So beautiful how Billy gave of himself, as a patient...and our neighbor. See, I lived my entire life in Amador County, moving to Pollock Pines 1 1/2 years ago. I've met Billy a few times over the years. Gramps told me today of the passing. I told him how wonderful Sunset View is...beautiful, like Billy. So sorry to his wife. My Ridge Church.

Joni, Bill and family
So sorry for your loss. Our prayers and thoughts are with you.

I so fondly remember William (who hated if I called him Billy) He was a champion at life! His ever present "your fired" in the halls of the food bank bring a smile even now. Did he ever write his book? I encouraged him every chance I got. William took life's challenges in stride. His memory of living in the bubble for a year was so clear. I truly enjoyed that he was a part of the fabric of the Food Bank and my life. My sincere condolences to all of you who loved him. He's dancing in heaven!

I use to ride the ART Buss with Billy. He was a very nice guy.Rest in Peace bddy.

Very sorry Bill , Joni and family.. sending our love .. your Aunt Barbara Axworthy . Cousin Linda Axworthy Sadowski ..Cousin Steve Axworthy and families.

Im so sorry for your loss. Your brave decision for Billy to undergo bone marrow transplant all those years ago helped save the life of a close friends son, who also had leukemia as a baby. Love and appreciation to your whole family.

RIP in William

Obituary

William's Obituary

William Edward “Billy” Cain, II, 40, of Ione, CA, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2018 in Sacramento, CA, following a short and sudden illness.   Billy was born in Placerville, CA on September 2, 1977, the only son of Joni Erlyne (Olson) and William Edward Cain.

Billy was diagnosed with Leukemia at the age of three and beat cancer four times during his life.  He was a ‘pioneer’ patient for an experimental procedure, a bone marrow transplant (now a common medical procedure for many types of cancer) when he was 5 years old.  As a young child, Billy’s family moved to Ione where he attended Ione Elementary School, and special education classes at Mokelumne Hill, Sutter Creek and Jackson Junior High, and graduated from Argonaut High School.  He worked at the Jackson Laundry and Ione Market for a few years before volunteering at the Interfaith Food Bank for seventeen years. He was very proud of being one of the longest volunteers at the Food Bank.  Billy loved camping with his grandparents and aunt and uncle and with the Gold Panners Camping Group and joining any vacation someone might be taking.  If someone was going in their RV, Billy’s bags were packed!  One of his passions was playing video games as much as he could, listening to music and watching movies.  Billy was very proud of being an uncle and spoiling his nieces and nephews.  He loved his friends and enjoyed hanging with them for a cold Bud Light at any celebratory event.

He leaves behind his parents, Joni and William Cain, of Ione, CA; three sisters and three brothers-in-law, Jenifer and Russell DeWalt, of Ione, CA, Elizabeth and Lucas Whitlock, of Ione, CA, and Nicole and Todd Hobbick, of Jackson, CA; gramps and nana, Erwin and Darlene Olson; nieces, Hannah DeWalt, Lilly DeWalt, Mackenzie Whitlock, and Emilee Hobbick; nephews, Wyatt Hobbick, Landon Whitlock, and Mattley Hobbick; aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

Friends are invited to attend a graveside service at Sunset View Cemetery, 10200 Highway 88, Jackson, CA, at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 28, 2018.  A celebration of his life will immediately follow at the American Legion Hall, 12134 Airport Road, Sutter Creek, CA.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be made to the Interfaith Food Bank, 12181 Airport Road, Jackson, CA 95642.
