William Stewart Dromsky, 82, of Mainland, died on Friday, May 13, 2016. He was the husband of Joyce Marlene (Ginder) Dromsky, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.
Born on November 30, 1933 in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Boleslaw Joseph Dromsky and Mary (Disney) Dromsky.
William “Bill” was a dedicated entrepreneur and owner of Sportsman’s Closet where he was an International wholesale book, video and material dealer to the flyfishing and hunting industries. With a booming, recognizable voice, a gregarious personality and an independant spirit, he built his family run business one customer at a time. The natural byproduct of being a book dealer also made him an avid reader.
Bill loved the outdoors; the colder and more turbulent the weather, the more he wanted to be out experiencing it. He was an enthusiastic hunter and fisherman. Some of his favorite times were spent with his brothers-in-law walking the mountains and streams of Pennsylvania, fishing from a boat with his favorite buddy or swimming in a choppy, stormy ocean with his kids. Bill also loved growing and eating fresh vegetables from his garden. Golfing is something he found great pleasure in as well, a passion he shared with his son.
He was also a music lover. In his younger years, Bill was a drummer with “Major and his Minors” and “The Musical Skiis,” along with filling in with other bands. He never lost his love of music; give Bill something he could use as drumsticks and a hard surface to bang on, and he was in his element. He could listen to Chet Atkins for hours on end, and could be found regularly debating with his daughter on who was a greater talent, Atkins or Les Paul. Bill loved to dance and was always the life of the party.
In addition to his wife Joyce, he is survived by a daughter Lisa Dromsky-Cleary and her husband Mark, a son Gary Dromsky and his wife Lita and a twin brother B. Joseph Dromsky.
Bill was a member of Christ Covenant Church of Harleysville. A memorial service for William will be held at 12 PM on Saturday, June 4, at the Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home, Inc., 667 Harleysville Pike, Telford (Franconia Twp.) where the family will receive friends from 11AM-12PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in William’s name to Christ Covenant Church, 2200 Mainland Road, Harleysville, PA 19438. The family would like to express their gratitude and heartfelt thanks to the members of the Congregational Care Ministry Team for their unwavering kindness, dedication, support and loyal friendship.
