Frankie Duncan and the Garland Family, so sadden by the loss of Jamal he was loved and will be missed. I pray that the Lord Jesus would comfort you during this time.

William "Jamal"'s Obituary

William “Jamal” Garland, Jr., 68, of Timberville, Va., passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at his home.

Mr. Garland was born March 21, 1950, in Philadelphia, Pa. and was the son of the late William Sr. and Elizabeth Dillard Garland. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth and Linda Garland.

After completing high school, Jamal enlisted in the U.S Army and served during the Vietnam War. He then worked as Bounty Hunter and lived in Newark N.J.  Later in his life he was employed with UPS in Pa.  He and his family moved to the Shenandoah Valley over twenty years ago and during this time, he worked with Perdue and Howell Metal retiring in 2008.

In addition to his parents and sisters, he is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Garland who passed away in 2010.

Surviving family include a son, Jamal Amin Garland and wife, Lynette; daughters, Justine Garland and Jamielle Garland; grandchildren, Camarah Jones, Cyrah Jones, Cimone Jones, Jamal Garland and Jamia Garland; brothers, Walter Franklin “Frankie” Duncan, Jr. and wife, Tondelya Washington, Michael Dillard, Marvin Garland and Mark Garland; sisters, Gloria Dillard, Judy G. Taylor, Karen G. Woodson and Barbara Garland, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisonburg.  The Elder Jamar Garland will officiate.  The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
