Dear Uncle Bill, can’t quite say you are gone as I saved a space for you in my heart. A very substantial man in our lives and will always be remembered with much love. BillieJo

Our beloved Bill-husband, father, grandfather, great Grandfather and friend to many, sadly left us just after the new year began. We will all miss his encyclopedic mind, gentle loving spirit and twinkle in his eye.
He met and married his first love and college sweetheart, Becky Sue Greene, whose extended family has always remained close. While Bill and Becky were raising their three children he completed his education with a BS, PhD and an MD degree.
After completing his internship in the navy and residency in Santa Rosa, he opened his private practice in Sebastopol. Even today former patients have fondly commented about the thorough care they always received.
After several years in private practice and the heartbreaking loss of Becky, and the continued love and support of Becky’s extended family, Bill returned to active duty for a combined service with the US Navy and Coast Guard totaling twenty-nine years of service. Life granted Bill a beautiful second chapter when he reconnected with a former SRHS classmate Muriel Craw. They married two days after their twenty-fifth high school reunion and went on to share forty six devoted years together, filled with travel to exciting duty stations, adventure and companionship While in Alaska they bought a twenty five foot boat and were delighted to find we could catch as much fish as we might enjoy consuming. That love of fishing was only overshadowed by the joy Bill found in the garden or reading about history. His memory of all things was remarkable. Bill was predeceased by his brother and sister and is survived by his wife, children, Terri Thiessen (Orrin), Rachael Fitch (Greg), and William G Kingsbury(Cathy) plus three step children, Joan Carr (Michael Hanson), Geni Houston (Mo) and Larry Carr (Alice) and many grandchildren and great grandchildren from quite a blended family. .Bill’s brilliant mind and kind heart will never be forgotten. As per his wishes his ashes will be scattered at sea by the Coast Guard. A gathering to celebrate his life will be held at a date yet to be determined please contact Muriel after March 15 for information 707-696-9936 If desired, contributions in Bill's memory may be made to By the Bay Hospice, Sonoma, for which their love, help and support made Bill’s desire to remain home possible, close to his family, garden and pups, who rarely left his side
