I had a beer or two with Mr Labonte back in the Dana Lounge days. He was a good guy and I always enjoyed his company. My condolences to the family.

He was a great neighbor to me and my family, so many wonderful memories from my childhood on Austin St. And many Holy Name days too. William's Obituary

William J. “Bill” LaBonte, 84, of Chicopee, was called safely home on Sunday, July 19 surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family.  Bill was born in Chicopee on September 6, 1935 beloved son of the late Lucien and Mary (O’Connor) LaBonte.  He was a lifelong resident of Chicopee and a graduate of Cathedral High School, class of 1955.  Following high school, Bill served his country proudly in the US Army until 1957.  He was employed at Witkin Provision Co. for 35 years and for Lewis Beef Co. for 5 years and retired in 1997.  He was a communicant of Holy Name of Jesus Parish where he served as the Chairman of the Bingo Committee for several years, and was also a member of the Chicopee Lodge of Elks  #1849.  He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Eileen L. (Woods) LaBonte.   In addition to his wife, he leaves his six loving children, William J. LaBonte, Jr., Denise E. Tyrrell and her husband, Bryan, Donna M. Guimond and her husband, Scott, Christine A. Stadnicki and her husband, Leonard, Karen T. Carter and her husband, Brad, and Kenneth J. LaBonte and his wife, Jennifer.  He also leaves eleven grandchildren, Janet Stadnicki, Mark Stadnicki and his wife Rebecca, Devin Carter and his wife Elisa, Alison Carter, Dillon Carter, Eric Tyrrell, James Tyrrell, Connor Guimond, Kristin Guimond, Caroline LaBonte , Nathan LaBonte and two great granddaughters, Anya and Mila Stadnicki.  Calling hours will be held Thursday, July 23 from 4p.m. – 7p.m. at Corridan Funeral Home, 333 Springfield St., Chicopee.  Relatives and friends are invited to gather at 10:00a.m. on Friday, July 24, for a Liturgy of Christian Burial at Holy Name of Jesus Parish, 94 Springfield St., Chicopee, followed by burial in St. Rose de Lima Cemetery, Olsen St., Chicopee.  Social distancing and face masks will be required.  In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill’s memory to American Parkinson Disease Association, 72 East Concord St., Boston Ma 02118.
