William Earl Moran, Sr., 79, of Bradenton, Florida, went to be with his Lord on Friday, October, 12, 2018. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at Bethany Baptist Church, 26604 State Road 64 East, Myakka City, Florida. Following the ceremony and graveside service at Bethany cemetery, lunch will be served in the Fellowship Hall.
Earl was born February 23, 1939 in Palmetto, Florida to Lee Van and Bertha Louise Moran. He attended Manatee High School. He was married to Mattie Pearl Griffin from 1959 to 2008 and leaves behind six children: Melanie Moran, Melinda Lundy (Jeff), Melissa Sinkler (Jeff), William Moran, Jr., Marilyn Moran Weaver (Michael), and Michelle LoCastro (Steve); 12 grandchildren: Janae Britt (Kyle), Kara Hall, Jonathan Sinkler (Pearl), Juleah Sinkler, Kaleigh Hall (David), Joshua Lundy, William Connor Moran, Jessica Moran, Madison Moran, Matthew Weaver, Canon LoCastro, Sophia LoCastro; and three great-grandchildren: Genevieve Britt, Emmalynn Britt, and Layne Hall. He also leaves behind a sister, Geraleen Anderson, and three brothers, L.V. Moran (Joyce), Donald Moran (Lou), and Charles Moran (Kay). Earl was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Arnold.
Earl was a proud Florida Cracker who spent most his life as a cattle rancher and sod farmer. The simple things in life brought him tremendous joy. He loved downhome cooking, Southern Gospel music, and fresh-grown Florida tomatoes and strawberries. He loved to tell jokes and had the most infectious laugh. No matter how bad the joke was, you couldn’t help but laugh right along with him. Earl was fiercely protective of his children and his property. He was friendly and polite but believed that fences make good neighbors, and a locked gate and mean dog worked even better.
Earl was a Deacon and Sunday School teacher at Bethany Baptist Church for many years while his children were growing up, and his unwavering faith in Christ left an indelible mark on them. Earl was loved and respected wherever he went, and he has left a legacy of strength, faith, family pride, and laughter that will never pass away.
