What a wonderful mass today. What a great man, husband and father. The would would surely be a better place with more role models like Bill.

I enjoyed talking about Baseball at the games he umped for my son's team. We used to make fun of the coaches and parents that complained about the calls. I used to hope that we had Bill for our games and loved to see him walking up. I will miss you, pal.

Bill was one of the best guys anyone could ever have the privilege of knowing. His love and devotion to his family was readily apparent in all he did. He'll live forever in the hearts and minds of everyone who knew him, and my family and I were in utter disbelief to learn of his passing. We are blessed to have known such a wonderful man and will truly miss seeing him around the neighborhood!

William (Billy) Nolan passed suddenly on Wednesday June 1, 2022 while doing his passion, umping a baseball game. Billy filled his life with the love of family and friends. For 43 years him and the love of his life Bernadette created something magical - a life and love story centered on faith and complete devotion to family and the neighborhood. He was the proud father of Billy (Tina), Brian (Kelsey) and Bridget (Patrick) but he was and even prouder pop pop to the sensational seven (Shane, Mollie, Liam, Elizabeth, Nora, Erin & Grady). Being one of 9 siblings, it was here that core strength of family was established. Billy was known throughout the Mayfair neighborhood as “Mr. Nolan” as he coached baseball and basketball for Holy Terrors and St. Matt’s CYO. Sure, he loved a win but he wasn’t most concerned with that! He knew that getting the kids on a baseball field or basketball court was the most important and the best place for them to be. He loved watching kids develop into athletes but what he enjoyed more were the personalities of each kid, the laughs that were had and the friendships that were formed. Still to this day the boys that played together are friends. What’s most remarkable about Bill though is the fact he would do anything for anyone - no questions asked. Whether it was a quick errand or a 3:00 am call for a ride home. He was just that type of guy. They say people are good and sometimes it seems like a cliche. But in this case Bill just wasn’t a good man, he was the best man. Billy is the son of the late Frank and Margaret Nolan; stepson of Eleanor. Beloved husband of Bernadette (nee Daley). Proud father of Billy (Tina), Brian (Kelsey), and Bridget (Patrick). Adoring Pop Pop of Shane, Mollie, Liam, Elizabeth, Nora, Erin and Grady. Dear brother of Francis, John “Duke”, George, Mary, Timothy, Therese, Anne Marie and the late Patricia; brother-in-law of Mary, John, Anne Marie, Thomas and Jimmy. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Monday Eve 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM at BURNS FUNERAL HOME, 9708 Frankford Ave. Phila., PA 19114 and Tuesday at St. Matthew Church, 3000 Cottman Ave. Phila., PA 19149 from 9:15-10:15 AM followed by his Funeral Mass 10:30 AM. Interment Our Lady of Grace Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to William Nolan Sr. fundraising in support of The Superhero Project (superheroprojectinc.org)
