William Paul Polk Jr.

Polk, William P. Jr, 68, of Davison passed away April 7, 2021. Bill quietly endured multiple health issues for the last few years. He was determined to make his struggles private and readily accepted that it was time for him to go home to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Bill was born in Flint on August 4, 1952 to Bill & Irma ( Riesinger) Polk. He graduated from Flint Central and earned a B.A. in Psychology from U of M. A lifelong resident of Genesee County Bill worked various jobs throughout Southern Michigan, mainly in the medical sales field.Bill and his wife Linda had 46 loving years together and raised one daughter, Gina. They were a happy and close knit trio and made life long memories in their yearly trips to Florida. Bill was intelligent, well read, witty and an enthusiastic conversationalist. He knew a little bit about a wide array of topics and could find common interest with almost anyone. His easy going manner and vast knowledge made him a great guy to turn to for advice and support. He was always willing to lend an ear and help in any way. Bill had a great sense of humor. Whether it was an amusing anecdote, a witty observation, or retelling a favorite TV show, he kept us entertained. An evening with Bill was bound to be full of laughter. From his youth collecting baseball cards to attending Tiger games, Bill was a baseball enthusiast. He actually was a fan of all Detroit teams but as he would readily admit, only when they were winning. One of Bill's great passions was music. He was well versed in music in general and could identify the artist of any song no matter how obscure. He was an accomplished guitarist and singer and spent a little time every day strumming his guitar. This passion & talent was shared with his daughter Gina. He especially enjoyed their long conversations discussing music and their many evenings harmonizing. Bill enjoyed playing scrabble against the computer, researching history, and testing his knowledge on jeopardy. He was a complicated and introspective man who loved kids and animals. Bill will be remembered for his intelligence, quick wit, big heart and gregarious personality. Through the years Bill and his mother shared Sunday breakfasts, family celebrations and daily phone calls. In 2003 Bill's father passed away unexpectedly and his sudden departure was very difficult for Bill to process. His dad was a mentor and confidant who supported Bill through his many changes in life. Bill's grandparents, James & Wonet Polk, provided him with guidance and support throughout his childhood. He cherished their stories of small town Missouri values as well as their unconditional love. Bill was proud to be a Polk and loved to reminisce about fun times shared with extended family and cousins. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Linda, beloved daughter Gina Thompson and devoted son-in-law Walter. Linda was a wonderful wife and always tried to steer Bill to peace, harmony, and forgiveness. Bill was extremely proud of the woman his daughter Gina had become and admired her courage in facing life's challenges. Bill enjoyed many great talks with his son in law Wally and thought of him as his own son. He also leaves his mother Irma Turner, sister Karen (Bill) Worthing, best friend Paul Paxton whose support & camaraderie meant so much through the years, and a whole family of in- laws who loved him dearly. Bill left this world with peace in his heart, embracing God's infinite mercy. Per Bill's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral.
