William's Obituary

William E. "Bill" Ryan Jr., 78, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025, in his home with his family at his side, following an illness. Bill was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and community member, cherished by many for his dedication to family and service.

Born on April 11, 1947, in Watertown, Bill was the son of William Ryan Sr. and Carolyn Ryan. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Jean Ryan, whom he married on March 28, 1975, his brother Richard Ryan, and sister Jean Simmons.

He is survived by his son Jordan Ryan and wife Mary, daughter Kimberly Jewett and companion Michael Tanner, a grandson Finley, three granddaughters Mackenzie, Makayla, and Emmalynn, and a sister Joan Stroud.

A proud Marine, Bill honorably served his country from July 1964 until June 1968. His unwavering commitment to duty continued throughout his life as an active volunteer fireman for the Alexandria Bay Fire Department and firematics. Following his service, Bill built a fulfilling career as both a carpenter and truck driver.

An avid sports enthusiast, Bill's impact stretched beyond his professional life. He was deeply involved in minor hockey as a coach, fostering young talent and encouraging sportsmanship. His love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for fishing, where he found peace and joy by the water. He was also a huge Yankees fan, New York Giants and Detroit Red Wings.

Respecting his wishes, no funeral or memorial services will be held. In quiet remembrance, we invite you to honor Bill's memory through donations to Hospice Care or to St. Jude Children's Hospital, charities he deeply cared about and supported faithfully.
