Billy’s obituary
William G Starr (Billy), 60 of North Troy, Vermont passed away on September 26th, 2025, at his home in North Troy, VT. Billy was born on March 11th, 1965 in Newport, VT, to the late Jack Sr and Ila Starr.
Growing up in North Troy, VT, on the family farm. Billy attended and graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic school. In school he loved sports so he played basketball, baseball, and soccer. He was a carpenter by trade and worked for Mark and Amy Giroux, and family for many years. As well as working for Eustis Cable Enterprises. He was a member of the eagle’s club in Newport, VT. also an avid patron of North Troy and Newport American Legions.
Billy cherished every moment spent with his beloved fiancée, Penny Flynn. He took great joy in hunting, fishing, and riding four-wheelers, on his Family land, which they have owned for decades. He was a huge fan of the Red Sox and the Cowboys; you could always find Billy watching his favorite sports teams do what they do best.
He enjoyed music, singing, and dancing. You could always find him on the dance floor singing and dancing with the biggest smile on his face. He would always listen to his music so loud in the house at night he would get told to turn it down, but he never listened. Billy was a loving father to his son Jordan Starr. He took great joy in raising and loving his son Jordan to which Jordan was his whole world. He showed Jordan to be a sports lover just like his father, they made many loving memories together. Billy spent most weekends being around his beloved grandchildren hunting, fishing, and bringing all the kids swimming to the family pond at the cabin. He especially always wanted to make sure they had fun at papa’s home.
Billy had a big, loving family and an even bigger circle of friends. Known by all for his outgoing personality, he was always the fun one in the group, the one who could light up any room with his energy and humor. More than anything, Billy's heart belonged to his family. They were what mattered most to him and truly meant the world. He will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his fiancée Penny Flynn, his Brothers Virgil and his wife Linda Starr, Jack Starr Jr and his wife Dianne, His sister Betty Griggs, Sister in-laws Pamela Starr and Jennifer Gaffney. His grandchildren, Cally Sanville, Riley Sanville, Preston Baraw, Caydence Sanville, Morgan Sanville, Abigail Baraw, Aubrey Baraw, Kaitlyn Sanville, Natalie Sanville, Savanna Labor, Randi Labor, Sadie Labor. Also, Penny's son Joshua Sanville and his Fiancée Jenna. Many Nieces, Nephews, and great Nieces and Nephews.
He was predeceased by, his Parents Jack and Ila Starr, His son Jordan Starr, Brothers Jimmy and Gary Starr, and Penny's son Jeremy Sanville.
There will be a celebration of life for Billy, on October 18th, at 2pm held at the American Legion post 28, 254 Dominion Ave, North Troy, VT 05859.
