William's Obituary

William “Bill” Bryan Sturgeon III, age 75, of Canton, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

Born and raised in Michigan, Bill proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps, where he earned the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Purple Heart for his bravery and dedication.

On February 13, 1981, Bill married the love of his life, Annette Sturgeon, and together they built a life filled with laughter, love, and family. He was a devoted husband, stepfather, grandfather, and great-grandfather who always found joy in the accomplishments and company of those he loved.

Bill worked for many years with the Taylor Department of Public Works and was an active member of his community. He served on the Council for the Arts in Taylor, the Walled Lake City Council, and was a proud member of the Rotary Club. His commitment to service and community left a lasting impact on those who knew him.

In his free time, Bill enjoyed football, jogging, exercising, cooking, eating, and practicing Arnis, the Filipino martial art. His sense of humor, warmth, and boundless energy will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife Annette; stepdaughters Barbara (Charles) Gauss, Katherine Focht, and Jennifer (Dan) Ruselowski; step-grandchildren Gerald Gauss, Nicholas Gauss, Gregory Gauss, Samual Baker, Kyle Ruselowski, Savannah Root, and Justin Focht; great-grandchildren Maddison, Kadence, Luna, Charlie, and Owen; and siblings Robert Sturgeon, Raymond Sturgeon, Keith Sturgeon, and Theresa Arnold.

He was preceded in death by his parents and other loved ones who now welcome him home.

Bill will be remembered for his service, generosity, and the love he shared so freely with family and friends. His life was a testament to courage, kindness, and the joy of living fully.

A funeral service will be held at Howe-Peterson Funeral Home in Taylor on Saturday, October 18th at 4:00pm with family greeting friends beginning at 2:30pm until 8:00pm.
