Not sure what to say?

To Bill's family :

Bill and his mother and father all showed me a lot of kindness in my youth. Even though I have not seen him since 1969, I have thought about him often along the course of my life. Bill lives on in the hearts the people who were touched by his kindness.

Jo and the Susina family, I am sorry to hear about your loss. I worked for Bill in the late 80's. He was a great man and will be greatly missed.

I just read Bill's obit. So very sorry for your loss. I graduated High School with Bill.

William's Obituaries

William H. Susina, age 64, of Clare, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love and comfort of his family and went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 13, 2016. He was born March 4, 1951, in Elgin, IL, the son of Samuel and Doris (Dean) Susina, Burlington, IL. He married Josephine Kirchman of Clare, IL on June 30, 1972 at St. Mary's Church Sycamore, IL, and later became a member of St. Mary's. Six months later they purchased a small farm in Clare, IL where they raised their family and still reside. His love for cattle began as a young boy when his Uncle Joe Susina gave him his first 4-H calf. Since that time, one of his greatest joys has been raising cattle and more recently working the cattle with his dog- Duke. He was a graduate of Burlington Central High School in 1969. Like his father, he became a custom-trim carpenter, first working for the union, than later owning his own business' Susina Woodworking and Oakwood Builders. He later worked for J.R. Enterprises Elgin, IL, until he became disabled February 13, 2005 due to heart disease. In 1994, the family built a log cabin vacation home in Highland WI, on 40 acres of woodlands. This became his favorite 'get away' with his wife and grandchildren. It is also the last place we had our annual family vacation. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling. He would say "all is right with the world" when he was sitting in his skid loader feeding the cows with Duke. Bill was the most amazing father not only to his three children, but he was a second father to several nieces, nephews, and friends of his children. He had a heart of gold, it just got tired too soon. He is survived by his loving wife, Jo; children Shannon (Jeff) Schmit of Sycamore, Nicole (Brandon) Marquardt of Oregon, IL, and Shane (Kim) Susina of Cortland, IL; 10 grandchildren Alexis, Shayna, Natalie, and Halle Schmit; Joel, Faith, and Anna Marquardt; Andrew Elder, Payton and Adriana Susina; 2 sisters, Pat Ziegler and Peggy Riddiough; many nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog Duke. He was preceded in death by his parents and his mother-in-law, Martha Kirchman.Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2:00-8:00 PM at the Butala Funeral Home and Crematory in Sycamore and on Thursday from 9:00-10:00 AM at the Church of St. Mary. The funeral service will be on Thursday, Feb. 18th at 10:00 AM at the Church of St. Mary, 244 Waterman St., Sycamore, with Fr. Paul Lipinski officiating. Burial will be at the Burlington Cemetery.Memorials can be made for William Susina to the DeKalb County 4-H Foundation to provide a show calf to a young 4-Her and to sponsor a woodworking plaque in the 4-H fair in care of the Butala Funeral Home and Crematory, 1405 DeKalb Ave, Sycamore, IL 60178.
