I was a classmate of W.T.,'s at Littlefield high school class of 1969. He was always quiet and didn't say very much. The family are in my thoughts and prayers.

You will be missed by your family and friends. Heaven is a better place with you ithere.

My family has known W.T and his family since before I was born. He was a good man. My family has always thought a lot of him and his wife. My condolences to Caryl and the rest of the family. God bless you all.

WT lived his faith in the many ways he loved his family, friends, his church and community. We are sorry for you loss and all of you are in our prayers.

WT was a wonderful gentleman that love his family and

William Townsend "W.T."'s Obituary

William Townsend "W. T." Powers, Jr., age 74, of Lumberton, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025 at UNC Health Southeastern in Lumberton.  He was born in Robeson County, NC on June 12, 1950 to the late William Townsend "Billy" Powers, Sr. and the late Jean Baxley Powers.

W.T. was a devoted husband, father and Papa. He spent his earlier years farming, and then later in life, he was the co-owner of Powers Lawn Care. In his spare time, W.T. was a life long member of Ten Mile Baptist Church, where his family started cutting the church grounds in the early 1970's. W.T. loved to spend his spare time putting on his family pig pickins, listening to the oldies on the radio, tinkering with fast cars and drinking good cold pepsi every chance he got.

He is survived by his wife, Caryl Powers, of the home; two children, Ashley Jean Baxley (Jay) of St. Pauls and Caleb Quitman Powers (Jennifer) of Lumberton; one brother, Keith Richard Powers of Holden Beach; three grandchildren, Grace Kelly Rigsbee, Hailey Michelle Baxley and George Weston Powers; special aunt, Margaret Branch of Lumberton and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended family members.

A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 from 6:00-8:00PM at Ten Mile Baptist Church, 5176 Barker Ten Mile Road, Lumberton.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at 2:00PM at Ten Mile Baptist Church with Rev. David McClellan officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to made to: Ten Mile Baptist Church, Attn: Operation Christmas Child Fund, 5176 Barter Ten Mile Road, Lumberton.
