William ?Bill? Webber, Sr., 93 of Roanoke passed away into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, December 5, 2013. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Virginia Webber, his son Bill Webber, Jr., grandchildren Kevin Webber and Cassie Trevino and her husband David, great-grandchildren Andrew and Angelina Trevino, all of whom he loved dearly, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends.Bill served in the 9th Air Force during WWII, spending 2 ½ years in Europe. He was a member of Webber HI 12 Masonic and a member of Kazim Shrine and ETTA Chapter 185 where he served as worthy Patron seven times. Bill was a member of Connelly Memorial Baptist Church where he served in various capacities and taught in the Junior Department. He was also a member of Bethel Baptist Church at the time of his demise. During the depression, he was employed by Western Union at the age of just 15. He worked as many as 15 hours in a day. Riding his bike in the rain, sleet and even snow. Those who knew him were aware of how dedicated he was to his work. Bill retired from the Veterans Medical Center where he worked with patients showing compassion, concern and always love. He will be truly missed by all relatives and friends. Friends are welcome to attend a Memorial Service celebrating Bill?s life Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at 2 PM at The Bethel Baptist Church, 1601 S. Colorado St., Salem, Virginia with Rev. Ivey Adams & Rev. Hilton Jeffreys officiating. Interment to follow in Evergreen Burial Park.
