Homegoing services for Mr. Willie James Baker, Sr. of Tampa, who passed away Monday, July 6, 2015, will be held Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, 3000 N. 29th Street, Tampa, FL with the Reverend Nicole Streeter, officiating. Interment will be held on Monday July 20, 2015 in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
Mr. Willie James Baker, Sr. was born October 23, 1931 in Perry, FL to the late Mr. & Mrs. Joseph (Mary) Baker. He was baptized and accepted Christ at an early age. He was educated in the public schools of Taylor County. He served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army 1951 – 1957, receiving many honors, including the Purple Heart. He was married to Mrs. Margie Baker and to this union three children were born. On Saturday, June 4, 2011, he later married the love of his life, Sharlyne Moultry.
He was preceded in death by his lovely wife, Sharlyne and daughter, Margie Baker.
He leaves to cherish memories of him with: sons, Willie James Baker, Jr., Ronald Baker, Roderick (Anditrum) Walker, Derrick Walker and Michael (Megan) Moultry; one daughter, Rosa Iyanna Martin; grandchildren, Willie James Baker, III; Jaquan and Jayden Shuriah; Ra’Sharia Brooks, Michael, Jr., Derrick, Jr., Deion Moultry, Serinity Broome, Roderick Jr., Sharod, Ramond, Maquez and Damari Walker; 4 sisters; 2 brothers; a host of nieces, nephews; three sisters-in-law, Selma (Jack) Jackson, Sherron Moultry and Vicki (Herman) Hudley; two brothers-in-law, Rodnick and Anthony Boyd and other sorrowing relatives and friends.
There will be viewing from 5:00 - 9:00 P.M. and the family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:00 P.M. Friday, July 17, 2015 at the Wilson Funeral Home.
