Willie Jean Ferrell, a devoted husband, proud father, and lover of life’s simple pleasures, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2025, at the age of 76. Willie Jean Ferrell was born June 27th 1948, to the late Chester and Famous Goodman Ferrell of Batesville, Mississippi.
Willie, a man of few words, left Mississippi at the age of 14. He gained a trade and worked for two of the largest construction companies: Moore Construction and Wooten construction as a welder until his retirement.
Willie enjoyed being outside, playing cards, and talking smack. He said what he said and meant what he said. His homemade creations—like his laughter and wisdom—were shared generously with family and friends
Willie was preceded in death by; his wife, Mrs. Carline Holland Ferrell; parents, Chester and Famous Ferrell; two sisters, Lillie Ferrell Norwood and Joyce Ann Ferrell Brown; four brothers, Ricky Ferrell, Charles, Tony and Jessie Ferrell; three sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law; Phyllis Pruitt, Margaret Peck, Martha Ann Johnson, JC Chambers, Charles Turner, James, Roy and Stamey Holland.
Willie leaves to cherish his memory: one biological daughter, Tina Ferrell; step-son, Keith Holland; step-daughter, Denise Holland; daughter-in-love, JoeQuanna Harris; seven grandchildren, Ke’Essence, Erica and Brianne, TayRoy, Eric, Christian; granddaughter-in-love, Amora; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, James (Julie Mae), Perry and Terry Ferrell; one sister, Mary Lois Ferrell; two sisters-in-law, Darlyne Rivers (Anthony) and Emma Holland; three brothers-in-law, Larry Holland (Vivian), Sammy and Otis Holland; special friends, David Redmond, George Redmond, Nancy Payne, Carol Lou Harris; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
All of whom were the light of his life.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 6 at Piney Grove AME Zion Church, 145 Fox Hunter Road, Harmony, NC at 1:30 pm.
