Willie's Obituary

Mrs. Willie Ruth McRae “Sis” was born in Charlotte, NC on March 21, 1960 to the late Willie Thomas Mason and Annie Lee Mason. She peacefully entered eternal rest on Sunday, March 9, 2025 at her home in Charlotte, NC.

Ruth was a graduate of Garinger High School in Charlotte, NC in 1978. She attended Central Piedmont Community College while working at Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC). She worked at KFC for 46 years, where she retired as a Store Manager. She loved hanging out with her family and friends. She also LOVED to go shopping and getting her nails and hair done.

Willie Ruth met the love of her life, Willie McRae (WC) and they married in May 1999. They enjoyed traveling together, having fun and being members of Myers Tabernacle AME Zion Church. Ruth served as a member of the Usher Board and Steward Board of her church.

Willie Ruth was proceeded in death by her parents Willie Thomas Mason and Annie Lee Mason. She leaves to cherish her loving memories her husband; Willie McRae, four sisters; Corine Owens (Daniel), Catherine Thomas (Henry), Alice Barnes (Freddie), Dorothy Mason and one brother; Thomas Mason (Selena), step-children; Jevonde McRae (Erica), Da’Sheila McRae (Marlin), Damont McRae, Gene McRae (Marica), one aunt; Rosetta White, one uncle; Robert Springs and a host of cousins, friends, nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

Ruth’s life was a testament to her unwavering devotion to her family and her faith. Her warmth, kindness and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Though she may be gone from our sight, Ruth will forever be remembered and loved.
