Willis A. Hochstetler, age 85 of Nappanee, IN, died at 10:47 pm on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at his home. Willis was born on December 7, 1939 in Nappanee to Andrew C. and Mary (Borkholder) Hochstetler. On April 6, 1963, Willis married Alice Bontrager in Nappanee. Willis was a devoted member of Berea Christian Fellowship and was passionate about serving others. He was active in Mennonite Disaster Service and volunteered his time to United Christian School as a custodian and handled building rentals. Willis worked as a farmer throughout his lifetime and retired in 2000. Willis was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed by those he loved. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Alice Hochstetler of Nappanee; 7 children: Marilyn Hochstetler of Nappanee, Anthony (Mary) Hochstetler of Seneca, SC, Jonathan (Debbie) Hochstetler of Nappanee, Margaret (Darrell) Yoder of Akron, IN, Thad (Ann) Hochstetler of Bremen, IN, Virginia Hochstetler of Nappanee and Janice Hochstetler of Nappanee; 15 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; siblings: Eli (Barbara) Hochstetler of Nappanee, Harvey (Dorothy) Hochstetler of Goshen, IN, and Marvin (Becky) Hochstetler of Nappanee, IN; and a sister-in-law, Betty Hochstetler of Nappanee. Willis was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Rosetta Hochstetler; 2 grandsons, Tyler and Gabriel Hochstetler; 2 brothers, Lloyd and Ervin Hochstetler; and 2 sisters, Katie and Barbara Hochstetler. Visitation will be held from 2-5 pm and 6-8 pm on Sunday, June 8, 2025 and from 2-5 pm and 6-8 pm on Monday, June 9, 2025 at Berea Christian Fellowship. A funeral service will begin at 10 am on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, also at Berea Christian Fellowship. Deacon Robert Miller and Pastor James Yoder will officiate and burial will take place in Berea Christian Fellowship Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Willis’ name can be given to United Christian School.
